The Dr Wood Challenge Centre is very proud to become a sponsor for 'Tournament of Minds' 2008. It promises to be a great success, not only for The Dr Wood brand of awesome mind challenging puzzles and games, but also for the organisers of the tournament.
The "Tournament of Minds" is a contest between schools spread over the entire Australian region. Its objective: testing the ingenuity and technical inventiveness of students.
The tournament covers 4 different disciplines and Dr Wood's involvement will be focussed on the Maths/Engineering section. The tournament is conducted in a State by State manner, after which winners will be challenged in a grand final, to be held in Melbourne. Invitations for the tournament are being sent out to around 15,000 schools and the participation by students nationwide is likewise estimated to be at 15,000.
Participation in this event will serve as a platform that will showcase a line of incredible mind challenging products from The Dr. Wood Challenge Centre to a large number of teachers, students and parents. Within a short period of announcing the association through the initial Tournament of Minds send-outs, the Mind Challenge team has received several encouraging expressions of interest from schools requesting further information about our innovative puzzles and games.
It has been established over the past few years that many of our products are excellent aids for the development of mathematical thinking. The Kaleidoscope Classic and Lokulus puzzles are particularly suited to the classroom environment, and have already found their way into many schools in Australia.
The Dr Wood Challenge Centre is hoping that through its participation in the Tournament of Minds, it will successfully reach out to schools across the country and in the process be able help many more get the benefits of using fun mind challenging puzzles and games in the classroom to encourage creative expression and build on fundamentals of logical mathematical thinking.
The Dr Wood Challenge Centre will also have the privilege of preparing a challenge for the National Finals, which we can promise will be a lot of fun for all. The Inventors are already putting their heads together to devise a truly spectacular task. It will be fantastic to be able to judge in a very direct way, how students interact with our philosophy of challenging the mind in a fun way.
We will also be involved in many regional workshops and State finals and will create a 'buzz' around our suite of products like never before.
